#1 Question I am Asked
“What do you use to treat Eczema?” Well, friend, I can’t say I use EOs to treat anything like that due to the FDA, but what I will tell you is that there are a few oils I turn to when I need to support dry scaly skin.
Eczema
Many people are affected by Eczema. Did you know that it is one of the most common skin conditions, affecting thousands of people every year? It should be no surprise to you that it affects, children, babies, and adults. There is a lot of debate on the cause of flare-ups, but there is a lot of information out there that points to allergens and irritants in our diet. Just last week, I had a spot of dry scaly skin on my eyelid. I suspect it was from counting money after the PTA bookfair in a dusty computer lab. Gross! #PTAmomDuties…
What do I use to support dry skin?
There are tons of prescription creams out there that let’s face it are full of chemicals, toxins and other ingredients that may just make the problem worse. I choose to make my own from pure ingredients I trust. There are a number of oils I use to support my skin and that I recommend for supporting the dry scalies. Fractionated Coconut Oil is very nourishing for your skin and is wonderful to use as a base with any of the oils listed below.
Rose Ointment
This ointment is my go-to for any dry skin issues. It is safe and gentle enough to use on the eyelid, it fixed mine right up in just a couple of days! I use it to help heal faster and anytime I have any rough spots that need to get back to smooth normal appearance.

Melrose
Melrose is a blend of Niaouli, Tea Tree, Rosemary, and Clove. It is known for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. It supports the skin and promotes cell turnover.
Lavender
Lavender is the swiss army knife of essential oils. Not only does it contain antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-fungal, calming, moisturizing, and anti-inflammatory properties, but it also is known to encourage healing and can help reduce the appearance of scars. Lavender is very gentle, so even if you have a tender sore patch it can be applied with care.
Frankincense
Frankincense is one of my favorite oils, it has the most wonderful effects on the skin for smoothing and reducing redness due to its anti-inflammatory properties. It also helps to enhance the benefits of any oil its paired with. In addition to these skin benefits, you will find that its scent brings you a sense of calm and serenity when inhaled.
Tea Tree
Widely regarded for its antibacterial, antiseptic, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties, Tea Tree is an excellent choice to promote healing and reduce inflammation.
Geranium
Geranium has a sweet earthy smell and its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties make it wonderful for your skin.
German Chamomile
German Chamomile is widely used in cosmetics due to its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties.
Helichrysum
Helichrysum helps encourage cell turnover and can aid itchy or irritated skin.
Cedarwood
Cedarwood is an awesome oil that helps to encourage healthy cell production. It also helps to balance the sebum (natural oil) in your skin and has calming effects for the spirit as well.
